The Irish Running Camp was started by Tim and Bernadette Coleman (with a prolific amount of encouragement and help from their children) to provide the opportunity for highly-motivated young athletes to get a unique cross country training experience in Ireland.
Tim, the camp director is a graduate of St. Bonaventure and Wesleyan and has been an educator for the past 10 years. He was an NCAA Division I athlete and enjoys running, skiing and cycling. He is currently a teacher at St. Paul's High School in Bristol, Conn.
Bernadette, is the administrator of the program. She is a graduate of University College Dublin and Rensselaer PolyTech. She enjoys running with her friends and attending her family’s sporting events.
Tim and Bernadette have four children. Sinead is a triathlete, and a graduate of St. Bonaventure. Fiona runs Division II cross country at Merrimack College. Seamus runs XC in high school and Roisin, the youngest, runs middle school cross country.
Dear Fellow Runners,
Our family has lived in both Ireland and the States. We currently live in suburban Connecticut and we regularly go “home” to visit friends and family. We know Ireland intimately, having visited every county between Derry and Kerry.
We were inspired to create the Irish Running Camp after our daughter Fiona wanted to travel abroad and also attend a running camp over a summer. We looked and found that there was nowhere suitable for young teenagers to go, so she was content to attend regional camps every summer.
This past year while visiting family in Ireland, we were reminded of the wonderful facilities, sports professionalism, beautiful trails and realized that this was the ideal location for a summer running camp and the place where we would want to send our children. They would feel welcome, safe and have a very enjoyable learning experience.
When we got home, we decided to create a premier running camp that provides a unique experience, with personal attention, individualized training, premier coaches, high quality staff and a cultural aspect that can only be had by traveling to Ireland.
If you have any questions about our camp program, please feel free to call us at 860.463.4232. We will always do our absolute best to help.
Sincerely,
